What We Believe
The principles that guide every audit we write, every strategy we deliver, and every conversation we have with a client.
SEO can be opaque. The industry is full of jargon, conflicting advice, and promises that are difficult to verify. We built BaobabTech around a different idea: that small businesses deserve clear, honest guidance they can act on. These are the beliefs that shape how we work.
Transparency over complexity
Search engine optimisation involves genuine technical depth. But that depth should never be used to obscure what is actually happening or why. When we explain our work to a client, we explain it in terms they can understand and evaluate. If you cannot follow what we are doing, you cannot make informed decisions about your business. We do not want that.
Every recommendation we make comes with an explanation of what it addresses and why it matters. You should be able to read our audit and understand it without needing to hire someone else to translate it.
Local knowledge is not optional
A strategy built for a business in London or Nairobi will not automatically work for a business in Gaborone. The way people search, the platforms they use, the language patterns they apply, and the competitive landscape are all specific to the Botswana market. Generic SEO advice ignores this. We do not.
This is why we focus exclusively on businesses operating in Botswana. It allows us to develop and maintain genuine knowledge of the local digital environment rather than applying imported frameworks that may not fit.
Sustainable progress over quick wins
There are techniques in SEO that produce short-term ranking gains. Most of them carry risk. Search engines update their algorithms regularly, and tactics that exploit loopholes today often create penalties tomorrow. We are not interested in that trade-off.
The work we do is designed to build lasting search visibility. It takes longer. It requires consistency. But it does not put your website at risk of losing everything when an algorithm changes.
Small businesses deserve proper attention
Large agencies often deprioritise small clients. The account manager changes frequently, the reports are templated, and the strategy is rarely adapted to the specific business. We work with small businesses because we believe they deserve the same quality of thinking that larger organisations receive.
That means taking the time to understand your business before making recommendations. It means building a strategy around your actual customers, not a hypothetical audience. It means being available when you have questions.
The right foundation changes everything
Most small businesses in Botswana that struggle with online visibility are not struggling because they have nothing to offer. They are struggling because the technical foundation of their website is weak, or their business information is inconsistent across the web, or their content does not communicate clearly to search engines what they do and who they serve.
Fixing those foundations does not require an enormous budget. It requires systematic attention and the knowledge to know where to look. That is what we provide.
We work with you, not just for you
SEO knowledge should not sit entirely with us. Part of what we do is help you understand your own digital presence well enough to make good decisions independently. We explain what we find, why it matters, and what you can do about it. Over time, that builds genuine capability within your business.
We are not interested in creating dependency. We are interested in helping businesses in Botswana compete effectively online.
